Let the goo times roll with Slime Rancher, a fun farming game set in outer space. Alien slimes roam free across your new ranch on the Far, Far Range—and it’s up to you to round them up.

What we love: The slimes are much cuter than they sound. These (mostly) endearing, brightly coloured blobs slither, bounce, and hover their way around your extraterrestrial home. Your task is to wrangle them, enclose them in corrals, and ensure they have plenty of food. Well-fed slimes make “plorts,” which you can cash in at the Plort Market to fund the expansion of your enterprise. Leave your slimes untended, though and they can turn into angry Tarrs, whose favourite food is ranchers!

Quick tip: The built-in Slimepedia is your friend. As well as explaining the gameplay basics, it’ll tell you everything you need to know about the various slime types, from their eating habits to the market value of their plorts.

Meet the creator: U.S. indie developer Monomi Park originally released Slime Rancher for Mac, PC, and consoles in 2017. It was followed by a sequel in 2025 and the mobile version in 2026.
