Donors to 11 approved charities to receive income tax exemption until 2030

The government has proposed an income tax exemption for donations made to 11 approved charities and public welfare organisations, aiming to encourage greater support for healthcare, disability services and social welfare programmes.

Under the measure announced in the FY2026-27 budget, taxpayers will be able to claim tax relief on donations made to the selected organisations from Jul 1, 2026, to Jun 30, 2030.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury announced the initiative while presenting the national budget on Thursday, saying the move was intended to encourage charitable giving and public welfare activities.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) later published the list of approved organisations.

The organisations include BRAC, Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust, ASHIC, Foundation for Children Cancer, Al-Markazul Islami, Disabled Child Foundation, Sherpur Diabetic Association, Mawna Diabetic Association, Bangladesh Thalassaemia Association, Autism Welfare Foundation, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Dhaka, and Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital.

The organisations work in areas including cancer treatment, diabetes care, support for children with disabilities, autism services, thalassaemia treatment and broader social welfare programmes.

The tax exemption replaces and expands a similar scheme in the current fiscal year, under which donations to nine organisations qualified for tax benefits.
