Bangladesh’s garment industry has found a place in the global spotlight following Cape Verde’s historic debut at the FIFA World Cup, according to Prestige Global.
Cape Verde made history after securing a surprise goalless draw against tournament favourites Spain in their opening match on Monday.
While the result was celebrated as a landmark achievement for the African nation, it also highlighted Bangladesh’s contribution behind the scenes.
The jerseys worn by the Cape Verde national team were produced at the Dhaka factory of New York-based sportswear manufacturer Capelli Sport, reports Prestige Global.
The fabric used in the kits was supplied by South Korean company Yongan Corporation.
Although Bangladesh is not represented at the World Cup as a competing nation, its manufacturing sector continues to strengthen its presence in international sport through the production of apparel and equipment for global markets.
Over the years, Bangladeshi factories have become key suppliers of sportswear for international brands, football clubs, and national teams, reinforcing the country’s position in the global apparel industry.
The Cape Verde kits are another example of Bangladesh’s growing contribution to the international sportswear market, with local manufacturers supplying products for some of the world’s biggest sporting events.
