Even though bpo#40740 has been closed, I wanted to re-raise the issue as this affects me. There are only two functions that come from this missing DLL: PathCchCombineEx PathCchCanonicalizeEx Would there be a way of rewriting join/canonicalize in getpathp.c (each of which uses one of the above functions) to _not_ rely on functions from a missing DLL on Windows 7 SP1? Or has the ship truly sailed on this matter? |

Python 3.9 does not support Windows 7, it's explicitly stated in the release notes of 3.9.0 |
