Hi All,

I was confused with jdk version 1.2, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 or java 5 etc. and also regarding classpath. Please anybody calrify me with this. Which is the latest version and what is the difference with other versions.

The latest version is 6. Java 1.5 is basically Java 5 and Java 1.6 is Java 6. For the difference, you may want to take a look at this site
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/

The later the version, the more improvements it has.

Java 6.0 and 1.6 are two names for the same thing. Basically, Sun calls "6" (or "6.0") the "product version number" and "1.6.0" (or "1.6") the "developer version number". Why they choose to have a such a confusing versioning scheme is unclear - it looks like it's done for marketing reasons.

Does anyone know why the "Cattle Drive" course here is using Java 1.4?
