JavaFX: Developing Rich Internet Applications is Based on JavaFX 1.2?

Actually I've been following the JavaFX news. To me, JavaFX 1.2 is more like JavaFX 1.0 since it's the only version that supports Linux and there are few language changes as well. IMHO, JavaFX is in fact a pretty cool technology and I hope that it can compete with Flex since with JavaFX I just need to learn JavaFX and Java whereas with Flex, I need to learn ActionScript, MXML, and Java.

Is this book based on JavaFX 1.2? Does this book cover integration with Spring or JavaEE?

The book is mainly based on JavaFX 1.1, with a few references to JavaFX 1.2 capabilites to the extent they were finalized by the time the book went to press. However, in translating the examples to 1.2, we found the changes from 1.2 to be additive. The 1.2 code samples are available on our web site: http://jfxbook.com. I have also written an article for InformIT that outlines some of the changes, http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1352545 We are in process of updating the book for JavaFX 1.2 and plan to release the key chapters on our web site so we do not have to wait for the print cycle. Also, we have an eye towards JavaFX 1.2-Next.

We did not cover Spring or JavaEE specifically. JavaFX runs on the client machine, and has support for RESTful interfaces back to the server. Also, when you create a JavaFX applet, there is support for interacting back and forth from JavaFX and JavaScript.
