Is it worth learning Swing? Will Swing dies off? Will Swing be eventually be removed as part of the Java language curriculum? I am just wondering if i should put in any effort on swing or should i just concentrate on JavaFx .. where will Java be going in 5 - 10 years from now? Please advice.

not a good question .It will be worth learning swing.swing is not going to be removed ....javafx is used mainly for developing rich internet applications right now .&applictions for mobile device etc .don't know much about the power of javafx.
But swings are wildely used in java desktop applications ....

I don't know where the java will be 5-10 yrs ,as the technology keeps changing ...

Well, stay away from JavaFX, at least right now. Lets say that JavaFX don't take off, yet, maybe someday.

For RIA use Flex or Javascript (did you see that office 2010 is in Javascript?)
For desktop use Swing or Swt, in the java world of course.
