I am pretty new to Java, reading everything i can get. I have the java sdk installed on my Windows 7/64 machine. but i have something wrong - I cant run java applets. I am doing the Sams "Teach yourself java in 24 hours" book and am doing the example in the hour 17 where i write an applet, then a html page and run the html, but the applet doesnt come up.

I got all of the examples working great up until this point.

I read that I need to clear out my previous Java (java(update) 6 update 22 , and i get the message "Error 1723. There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I deleted the /java folders and the /jre folders - Still getting the error.

I am running win 7/64 btw. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.
