I just had a look at the contents of the book and it looks great!

  • When it comes to Java EE I see many developers having trouble with the usage of transactions and exceptions and when to use what. Do you discuss some practical problems with these two topics?
  • I see a full chapter of RESTful Web Services, but do you also relate these Web Services to their counterparts (SOAP Web Services)?

    Hi Frits

    Thank you for question.

When it comes to Java EE I see many developers having trouble with the usage of transactions and exceptions and when to use what. Do you discuss some practical problems with these two topics?

We don't discuss transaction in a separate chapter, however we discuss transactions in the context of the time pattern, how they are used in the Observer pattern and in AOP.

I see a full chapter of RESTful Web Services, but do you also relate these Web Services to their counterparts (SOAP Web Services)?

We discuss briefly SOAP in the context of the Richardson Maturity Model and how it compares to RESTful webservicea. The chapter is concerned with the appropriate implementation of RESTful principles.
