Which book is the best to learn Java with: Head First Java or A Beginner's Guide

I'm quite new to programming and I've just finished reading 'Beginning Programming with Java for Dummies' by Barry Burd to get an idea. I'm enjoying it VERY much.

What book would you recommend to continue: 'Head First Java" or 'Java A Beginner's Guide Sixth Edition' by Herbert Schmidt ?
My goal is to learn Java well to pass the Oracle OCA examn.

Also, does anybody have a good advice on how or where to practise newly learned Java skills for a beginner (yet no longer a 'dummy' ).

Anyway how long did it take to read "..Java for dummies"?

Thanks for your reply! I'm going to do the same as you and order the book "Head First Java".

It took me one month to finish Beginning Programming with Java for Dummies and my copy has 416 pages. Since I didn't know anything about programming at all, for me it was a great start with to get a general idea about Java and programming.

Ofcourse it's hard to say which one of these books will resonate with you most - different people have different learning styles. Many people seem to like Head First Java.
