Keyboard brightness controls often do not work #1868

Description

@medikoo

Before opening the issue, have you...?

  • Searched for existing issues
  • Looked through the wiki
  • Updated MonitorControl to the latest version (if applicable)

Describe the bug

Right after I installed monitorcontrol (via brew) it worked perfectly. Then after some time I noticed that attempt to change brightness via keyboard control is not effective at all. I opened the setting of the app and it started to work again. Then again same situation happened.

It appears that after some time binding of keys is lost. Note that I also have Better display installed but purely for resolution settings and I have it fully turned off for any other settings, so I don't think it should interfere

Steps to reproduce

I assume issue is specific to my setup, still here are the steps:

  1. Install monitorcontrol via brew - confirm it works as expected
  2. Try keyboard brightness controls in an hour (doesn't work)
  3. Open monitorcontrol settings, keyboard brightness contorls start to work again
  4. Try keyboard brightness controls in an hour (doesn't work)

Expected behavior

I expect the keyboard brightness controls to work all the time
