Below some breakpoint, we disable the whole compass layout and show a message. That's really difficult for anyone to override if they want to allow the layout work on smaller breakpoints.

Let's create an opt-out for that responsive view, so a user can add a class to their compass layout and maintain the compass layout across all breakpoints.
