App
Thunderbird for Android
App version
Latest version available on Google Play (exact version unknown because the app cannot be configured due to this issue)
Where did you get the app from?
Google Play
Android version
Android 16
Device model
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (SM-S938B/DS)
Steps to reproduce
-
Install Thunderbird for Android from Google Play.
-
Launch the application for the first time.
-
Select "Import settings from Thunderbird Desktop using a QR code".
-
Grant camera permission.
-
Point the built-in QR scanner at a valid QR code generated by Thunderbird Desktop.
-
Repeat the test with different QR code sizes and distances.
Expected behavior
The built-in QR scanner should immediately detect and decode the QR code generated by Thunderbird Desktop and continue with the account import process.
Actual behavior
The camera preview opens correctly and the scan frame is displayed.
However, the QR scanner never starts scanning.
No scan animation appears.
No QR code is ever detected.
No error message is displayed.
The scanner remains completely inactive regardless of the QR code size or viewing distance.
The same QR code is immediately recognized by the Samsung Camera application, confirming that the QR code itself is valid.
Already tested:
- Camera permission granted.
- App cache cleared.
- App data cleared.
- Thunderbird uninstalled and reinstalled.
- Phone restarted.
- Thunderbird Desktop switched to light theme.
- Different QR code sizes tested.
The problem appears to affect only Thunderbird's built-in QR scanning engine.
Logs
No logs available.
