What do you want to call it? Like, 2.2.1a1, or 2.2.1b1, or 2.2.1c1, or ...?

I just tried building a Windows installer based on 2.2.1 CVS. It revealed
that pydoc blows up now, easiest to see via cmdline help():
C:\Pyt>python
Python 2.2.1a1 (#32, Mar 14 2002, 14:10:11) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] on win32

I see it blows up likewise in current CVS. This example works fine in 2.2,
though.
I never use pydoc, so it would be helpful if someone who does adopted it.
