Nurunnahar Nimni is the third Bangladeshi woman to conquer Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain.
The Bangladesh Mountaineering and Trekking Club (BMTC) confirmed the achievement.
Early on Wednesday morning (May 27), she raised the flag of Bangladesh on the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.
Nishat Majumdar became the first Bangladeshi woman to climb Everest on May 19, 2012. Later that same year, on May 26, Wasfia Nazreen also reached the summit. After a gap of 14 years, Nurunnahar Nimni has now become the next Bangladeshi woman to conquer Everest.
Nimni traveled from Dhaka to Nepal on April 11. From Kathmandu, she went through Lukla and reached Everest Base Camp. There, she gradually acclimatized herself to the extreme high-altitude conditions. Generally, the period between May 15 and May 30 is considered the ideal window for an Everest summit attempt. On May 17, she left Base Camp for the final ascent. Step by step, she reached Camp 4 on May 23. Although she began her push toward the summit that day, adverse weather conditions forced her to descend.
Raised in Rangpur, she studied geology at Dhaka University, where her interest in mountains began during fieldwork in 2006. She later trekked extensively in Bandarban, Bhutan, Sikkim and Nepal.
