A Dhaka court on Monday showed content creator Touhid Afridi, son of MyTV chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi, arrested in a fraud case filed with Wari Police Station.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasan Shahadat passed the order after police sought to include Afridi in the ongoing investigation.

Investigators told the court that another suspect, Nishaduzzaman Nishad, identified Afridi as being linked to the alleged online fraud operation. Prosecutors argued that formally arresting him in the case was necessary for the investigation.

According to the case statement, the complainant was contacted via WhatsApp and Telegram on Jan. 13, 2025, by a group offering lucrative job opportunities. The group allegedly persuaded the victim to invest money in stages, initially returning small amounts to gain trust before taking larger sums. A total of Tk 235,000 was allegedly embezzled.

The case was filed by Syeda Ashfah Tuaha Dyuti against unnamed suspects.

After hearing both sides, the court approved the police request and sent Afridi to jail.
Afridi had previously been arrested by CID in Aug 2024.
