Lionel ‌Messi equalled ​the ​men's World Cup ⁠all-time ​scoring record ​with a hat-trick ​in ​Argentina's opener against ‌Algeria ⁠on Tuesday, matching former ​Germany ​striker ⁠Miroslav ​Klose's tally ​of ⁠16 goals.

The Argentine veteran, playing at a record sixth World Cup, scored from distance in the first half and poked home from close range in the second period.
