4 more die of measles

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported the deaths of four more children with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 111 new measles cases were also confirmed.

According to the DGHS’s regular measles bulletin released on Wednesday, a total of 93 have died after being infected with measles since March 15 this year. Additionally, 568 have died while showing symptoms associated with the disease.

The highest number of deaths among symptomatic patients has been recorded in the Dhaka division, with 239 fatalities so far. Rajshahi division ranks second, where 87 deaths have been reported.

The health authority said that 111 people were diagnosed with measles in the 24 hours ending at 8:00 am on Wednesday. During the same period, 966 individuals with measles-related symptoms sought treatment at hospitals, of whom 872 required admission.
