My goal to be hired working with Python
#1
Hello, I am a new programmer and am fascinated by this language of programming! I started with C and soon heard about python. Took one look and never looked back... IM OBSESSED! Coding has become so much more fun, and python makes it so much easier on a newbie like me! I'm about 6 months into studying and learning, pretty much absorbing and challenging my brain by any means, in regards to python.

I was curious if anyone on here can give me tips, advice, tricks, locations... pretty much anything to be on the right path to somehow becoming a programmer for my career. Im in my 30's and decided its time to make a change for the better, so anything will be helpful as I'm still learning where to go and what to do.

Goal Dream Jobs:
Network Security
Ethical Hacking
Creation & Implementation of Music in Videogames (I'm a musician with a degree in music production recording arts)
Or any other suggestions that could be worth looking into

Thank you, & sorry if this is a weird post -- I'm just a newbie following a new found love

Nothing beats getting at least a 4 year degree, masters is better, phd only if you want to teach.
However it is possible to get a good position without, if you are willing to start in a junior slot.
Be prepaired to take some pretty grueling profeciency tests if going for a larger company.
Startups are always good, they will often value ambition over experience, starting salaries might be low.

At any rate, you can take some of the excellent tutorials that are available free, now
Two favorites are:

Not a weird post at all, man. I kinda started in the same way but later than most too. What helped me early on was actually building small projects around stuff I liked (for you maybe little music tools, or automating something boring). It keeps you motivated and gives you something to show off later. Also, don’t sleep on learning the basics of Linux and networking if you’re eyeing security, that combo with Python opens a lot of doors. And honestly, you don’t need to rush, just keep making and breaking stuff, it adds up quicker than you think.

Hey,
Not a weird post at all, you are doing something many people are afraid to do so, actually it is super inspiring. You already love python and thats a great start. Here are some step that will help you.
1. Keep learning python
2. Upload your project on GitHub.
3. Practice coding daily on HackerRanker, LeetCode, to improve logic.
4. For ethical hacking learn networking basics, linux and tool like Nmap and Wireshark.
5. Since you are musician learn unity and audio tools like Wwise/FMOD.

So, at the end i would say you are on a right path. Keep learning and building.
All the best.
