Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Defender
#1
I work for an MSP and we now have a customer that has users that use Python. We have to keep their software up to date for compliance purposes. I'm not finding good information on how Python is kept up to date and if older versions are patched for vulnerabilities. For example, we have many users on 3.13.13, but defender is saying it has several vulnerabilities. Is there a build number on top of the version number? How do you keep it updated. Do you simply download the latest installer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is all done by python.org the creators and maintainers of python. there are other versions of python, for example anaconda. The various versions are maintained by their creators.

The eastiest way to keep CPython within its release up-to-date in WIndows is to install Python from the Microsoft Store. The Python there is provided by the Python Software Foundation, you get the latest bug fix release typically pretty quick an the Microsoft Store updates software automatically.

BTW: the thread's title is pretty confusing... It implies that it is about vulnaerabilities in Microsoft Defender... In reality, this thread is about how to keep Python up-to-date on a Windows machine.
