Renowned theatre, television, and film actor Shams Sumon died of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday evening.
According to theatre activist and fellow actor Shahadat Hossain, Shams Sumon passed away at approximately 6:45pm at a private hospital in the city. Sumon was a popular figure in television dramas and was currently serving as the station chief of Radio Bhumi.
His namaj-e-Janaza would be held on the Channel i premises at 10:00am today, according to a station employee.
Shams Sumon began his cultural career with the Rajshahi University-based recitation group Swanan. He appeared in more than ten films and won the National Film Award for best supporting actor in 2008 for his performance in Swapnopuron, directed by Shahidul Islam Khokon.
