Bangladesh’s two international masters, Fahad Rahman and Manon Reza Neer, will train under renowned Russian coach and Grandmaster Peter Kiriakov ahead of the FIDE World Cup Chess in India, scheduled from October 30 to November 27.

Kiriakov will also coach some other promising local talents, including the country’s top female players, during his two-month stay with the Bangladesh Chess Federation.

He last worked in Malaysia before joining Bangladesh and began working with BCF players on Monday.

The 50-year-old Kiriakov has been giving online and offline lessons since 2000 and has so far coached over 350 players worldwide.

The other two IMs—Minhaz Uddin and Abu Sufian Shakil—and FM Subrata Biswas, Mohammad Shaker Ullah, Mohammad Javed, Anath Chowdhury, Sharif Hossain, Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, and Naim Haque will also benefit from Kiriakov’s expertise.

However, Kiriakov has been funded by the Bangladesh Olympic Association.
