Muggers stabbed Adabor police station’s officer-in-charge and a sub-inspector during an anti-mugging drive on Tuesday.
The officer-in-charge Md Jahidul Islam and sub-inspector Tarun Kumar were injured in the attack that occurred behind Delta Garment in the afternoon.
The police said they opened fire in self-defence. Two alleged muggers were wounded in the incident that took place at about 4:30pm.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammadpur Zone additional deputy commissioner Jewel Rana said that all injured, including two police officials were taken to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment.
‘We have arrested four muggers from the spot, including two bullet wounded,’ said Jewel.
The injured alleged muggers are Rubel and Amir, who are among the four arrested over the incident.
The two other arrested are Kashem and Md Joy.
