Holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed in the country on June 26, as the crescent moon for the month of muharram was sighted in the Bangladesh sky on Tuesday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office. The meeting was chaired by the Additional Religious Affairs Secretary, Md Fazlur Rahman, according to a press release.
