Nigar Sultana Joty is looking to improve their batting performance for a successful tournament, as Bangladesh begin their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign against the Netherlands at Edgbaston in Birmingham today.
The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm Bangladesh Standard Time.
‘Our first target is to improve our batting performances. If we can do that, I believe we can have a much better tournament. In the last World Cup, we managed only one win, so our goal is to improve on that record and secure more victories this time,’ Joty said before their first match.
While the Netherlands are playing in their first-ever World Cup, they are not unfamiliar with Bangladesh, as they played in a tri-nation recently, where the Dutch also registered their first win over them.
‘First of all, I think it will be a good opportunity for us to start well for this tournament, and we played against them. They are very good in this condition, so we really wanted to go with our A-game, definitely,’ said Joty.
