Professor Md Safiqul Islam has been appointed as pro-vice-chancellor, administration, of Chittagong University.
He joined as pro–VC of the university for four years on Wednesday, said a press release.
CU pro–VC, academic, Professor Mohammed Al-Amin; outgoing pro–VC Professor Md Kamal Uddin; deans of various faculties; acting registrar and proctors, among others, were present at this time.
Before taking charge as pro–VC of CU, Professor Safiqul Islam served as pro–VC of Kishoreganj University from November 6, 2024 to June 9, 2026.
CU pro-VC, academic, Professor Mohammed Al-Amin and Professor Md Shafiqul Islam, along with others, paid tribute to the freedom fighters by laying wreaths at the Swadhinata Smritistambha, to the language martyrs by laying wreaths at the Shaheed Minar and to the martyred intellectuals by laying wreaths at the Buddhijibi Chatwar.
