Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and chief patron of the Amra BNP Paribar, Tarique Rahman, has extended support to a housewife who was reportedly divorced for voting for the ‘sheaf of paddy’ in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections held on Thursday.
Following Tarique Rahman’s instructions, a delegation of Amra BNP Paribar visited the home of the victim, Bibi Johora, at Bashtola area of Dharmapur union under Feni Sadar on Saturday afternoon.
The delegation led by agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, member secretary of Amra BNP Paribar, enquired about Johora’s overall condition, provided her with financial assistance and assured support for her children’s education and overall welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Mithun said that the organisation would stand by the family on humanitarian ground and take necessary initiatives to ensure continued assistance.
According to local sources, Bibi Johora is currently facing uncertainty along with her three children following the divorce pronounced by her husband, Ismail Hossain Kawser. The validity of the divorce under shariah law is currently under review.
