Govt appoints VCs to four public universities

Education ministry issues notifications; appointments valid for four years

The government has appointed vice-chancellors to four public universities, according to separate notifications issued by the education ministry.

Prof Dr SM Hemayet Jahan has been appointed VC of Patuakhali Science and Technology University. He is a professor of Entomology at the Faculty of Agriculture and has been serving as pro-VC.

Prof Mohammad Sabirul Islam Hawlader has been appointed VC of Pirojpur Science and Technology University. He is a professor of Arabic at Rajshahi University.

Prof Tahmina Akhtar has been appointed VC of Rabindra University, Bangladesh. She is a professor at the Institute of Social Welfare and Research of Dhaka University.

Prof Mohammad Hanif has been appointed VC of Lakshmipur Science and Technology University, becoming the newly established university’s first VC. He is a professor of Applied Mathematics and treasurer at Noakhali Science and Technology University.

According to the notifications, the appointments will be for four years from the date of joining or until the appointees reach retirement age, whichever comes first.
