Hello Dear Student,
A Preparatory rank of 137 in JEE advanced 2026 does not directly guarantee admission to an IIT. preparatory course seats are offered to certain category candidate who made the eligibility condition prescribed by the IIT's. Admission depends on your category, availability of preparatory seat and the counselling process conduct by JOSSA.
If you are eligible for preparatory course and successfully complete it as per IIT guidelines you may become eligible for admission to an an IIT in the following academics session. I would advise you to carefully check the JOSSA seat allocation detail and official IIT admission brochure for the latest rule.
Best wishes for your admission process.
Hi there,
Considering your JEE Advanced 2026 rank of 1510, it looks like both ECE at IIT Kharagpur and Mathematics & Computing (MnC) at IIT Roorkee are great options.
The choice is a matter of your career prospects, rather than Institute prestige, as both IITs are among the top engineering institutions in India.
If you're looking for a future in software development, AI/ML, quantitative finance, data science, or algorithmic research, then MnC at IIT Roorkee is probably the better option, as the curriculum is considered highly valuable by technology and finance recruiters. Many students choose MnC because it provides opportunities similar to CSE while also opening doors to analytics and quantitative roles.
On the other hand, if you are interested in electronics, communication systems, embedded systems, or core engineering, then ECE at IIT Kharagpur is an excellent choice. IIT Kharagpur additionally benefits from one of the largest alumni networks and strong industry connections.

Hello,
With COMEDK rank 510 , JEE Main rank 40,989 , and JEE Advanced rank 28,900 , your best strategy is:
COMEDK first priority – You have a very good rank and can target top colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, and MSRIT.
JoSAA counselling – Fill NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs according to your preferred branch.
CSAB rounds – Participate for better options if not satisfied with JoSAA allotment.
JEE Advanced options – Keep them as backup, as top IIT branches may be difficult at this rank.
Overall, your COMEDK rank is your strongest advantage , so focus on that first.
Hope it helps.

Hello,
With a CRL rank of 5,13,695 and SC rank of 38,157 , getting top NITs or popular branches may be difficult. However, you can still consider some GFTIs and lower-demand branches in newer NITs.
You may look at:
Assam University
Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology
Some newer NITs such as National Institute of Technology Mizoram and National Institute of Technology Nagaland
Also participate in CSAB Special Rounds , as they can improve your admission chances.
Hope it helps.
Hello,
With a JEE Advanced rank of around 27,300 , getting an IIT seat in the General category is quite difficult, as most IIT seats close at lower ranks. However, you may still have a chance in some newer IITs and less competitive branches, depending on your category and gender.
Please share:
Your category (General/OBC/EWS/SC/ST)
This will help us suggest the IITs and branches where you have realistic admission chances.
Hope it helps.
