The government has proposed an allocation of Tk 4,947 crore for the Public Administration Ministry in the 2026-27 fiscal year, reflecting a modest increase of Tk 48 crore, or about 1%, compared to the original budget of the current fiscal year.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the proposal on Thursday in Parliament while unveiling the national budget for FY26-27. The revised allocation for FY25-26 stood at Tk 4,490 crore, indicating a higher provision in the new proposal.

The ministry’s budget supports key administrative functions, including civil service management, recruitment, training, and public sector reforms aimed at modernising government operations.

Despite an overall emphasis on expenditure control in the new budget, the allocation for public administration has been slightly increased, which officials say reflects continued focus on strengthening administrative capacity.
