Ensure safety of city’s  foot overbridges

Dear Sir,

Dhaka's foot overbridges were built to ensure safe pedestrian crossings and prevent road accidents. Ironically, many of them have become places of inconvenience and fear.

Broken steps, poor lighting, garbage, foul odours and hawkers occupying walkways discourage people from using them. Proper maintenance, cleanliness, adequate lighting, surveillance and effective security measures are urgently needed to make Dhaka's overbridges safe and accessible for all.
