Memorandum submitted to PM demands construction of Second Jamuna Bridge

GAIBANDHA, June 17: A memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman through the Deputy Commissioner (DC) here on Monday noon, demanding construction of the Second Jamuna Bridge between the Teestamukhghat and Bahadurabadghat to ease communication system between Dhaka and northern districts including Gaibandha and to ensure overall development of the northern region.

Before submitting the memorandum, the people from all walks of life brought out a procession from the Teestamukhghat and  went to the DC office  parading the main roads of the district. 

The participated people chanted slogans demanding the necessity of the bridge. 
A rally was also brought out on the premises of the DC office where the leaders of professional groups addressed upholding the arguments to the construction of the bridge. 

The speakers, in their speeches, said as the distance between the Balashighat and Bahadurabadghat is more compared to Teestamukhghat and Bahadurabadghat.
 
So it should be wise and betterment to construct the bridge between the Teestamukhghat and Bahadurabadghat to avoid big expenditure of the government, they also said. 

Realising the matter, the people from all walks life are making movement to construct bridge between Teestamukhghat and Bahadurabadghat. 

To materialise their dream and to draw the attention of the government, they took decision to submit a memorandum to the PM to press home their demand, They added. 

Accordingly, they submitted a memorandum to the PM through the DC, They concluded. 
After talking to the organisers, it is learnt that the bridge would have two portions. An eye-catching rail station would be built in the middle of the river in the name of Fulchhari Station, they also said. 

The first portion of the bridge would be built from Teestamukhghat to the station they said adding that the name of the first portion bridge would be Begum Khaleda Zia Bridge while the name of second portion bridge from the station to Bahadurabadghat would be Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. 

At last, they demanded of the government to consider the matter seriously and to construct the Second Jamuna Bridge between Teestamukhghat and Bahadurabadghat in logical grounds. 
A large number of people participated in the programme.
