JHENAIDAH, June 17, 2026 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has inaugurated a state-of-the-art slaughterhouse in Jhenidah Municipality this morning.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Noman Hossain. Special guests included Superintendent of Police Miah Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan, District Council Administrator MA Majid, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division Rathindra Nath Roy, and General Secretary of the district BNP Zahiduzzaman Mona.
Constructed under the “Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP)” of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the facility was built at a cost of Taka 10.82 crore.
Contractor farm Crystaltech-NAK (JV) initiated its construction work on August 6, 2023, and handed over the slaughterhouse to Jhenidah Municipality authority on February 18, 2026. Built on 49 decimals of land, the main slaughtering and processing area covers around 2,500 square feet.
The slaughterhouse has two separate slaughter lines for cattle and goats. The automated facility has the capacity to process 10 to 12 cattle and 20 goats per hour in a completely hygienic manner.
“There are special holding zones for washing animals and conducting necessary health examinations before slaughter. The facility includes slaughter boxes, overhead rails, pneumatic cutters, working platforms, weighing scales, hide-pulling machines, electric saws, and special hooks to ensure hygienic skinning and cutting of meat,” said Rathindra Nath Roy.
