DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - The fourth meeting of the Library Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Committee Chairman and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP, in the chair.

Committee members Whip A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, Sayeed Al Noman, A.B.M. Mosharraf Hossain, Humam Quader Chowdhury and Akhter Hossen attended the meeting.

At the outset, the chairman welcomed the members and reviewed the progress in implementing decisions taken at previous meetings.

 The report of Sub-Committee-1 was also presented and discussed in details, said a press release.

The committee discussed taking effective measures to modernise the Parliament Library and bring it under the e-Parliament framework with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Strengthening Institutions, Policies and Services (SIPS) project of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.

To this end, the committee decided to hold meetings with UNDP representatives and committee members Sayeed Al Noman, Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem and Humam Qader Chowdhury to take the necessary steps.

The committee recommended introducing both in-person and online application systems for researchers interested in using the Parliament Library in accordance with the Library Rules of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat. 

It also recommended disposal of applications within five working days with notification to applicants and allowing researchers to use the library from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm during parliamentary sessions.

To facilitate research activities of the Secretariat, the committee decided to form a Research Committee headed by committee member Sayeed Al Noman.

The committee further recommended posting two IT officers and two cleaning staff at the Parliament Library and installing a digital signboard at the library entrance.

Officials concerned of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
