Two persons were found dead in Bhandaria Upazila of Pirojpur District and Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj District on Tuesday.
BHANDARIA, PIROJPUR: Police have recovered a young man’s body from his in-laws' house in Ward No. 8 of Bhandaria Municipality on Tuesday morning.

The deceased Shahadat Hossain Bappi, 27, was the son of Shahid Hawlader of Uttar Sialkathi Village of the upazila.

Local and family sources said that the deceased’s wife Hafiza Akhter Meem was preparing to go to Jordan to work in a ready-made garment factory. But her husband and his family did not agree to it. Due to this family dispute, Meem moved to her father's house a few days ago.

The deceased’s family claims that on June 11, Meem went to Dhaka without informing her husband and stayed in a hotel. When Bappi made a video call, he saw a stranger in the hotel room where Meem was staying. Later, on June 14, Meem returned to her father's house in Kanua and called Bappi there on the mobile phone.

Meem said that on Monday night, they had an argument and went to sleep around 1 am. When she woke up around 2 am, she saw Bappi hanging with a scarf from the ceiling. She lowered his body down and informed Bappi's family.

Bhandaria Police Station (PS) OC (Investigation) Ratneshwar Kumar Mandal said that whether it was murder or suicide can be confirmed only after the autopsy report and police investigation.

CHUNARUGHAT, HABIGANJ: Police recovered the body of a man from the Khoai River in the Purba Barail area of Chunarughat Municipality of the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased Abdullah, 55, was a resident of Khetamara Village in Gazipur Union No. 1 of the upazila.

According to the victim's family and the police, Abdullah went missing in the river in the upazila's Purba Chhankhola area last June 13. He was not found after much searching. Being informed by locals, the police recovered the body and sent it to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
