- To conduct and support schemes to write, translate and publish books on Islamic Economics.
- To organize and conduct basic and applied research with a view to developing models and methods for the application of Shariah in the field of economics, finance, insurance and banking.
- To provide for the training and development of professional personnel in Islamic economics to meet the needs of research and Shariah observing banks and non-banking financial institutions.
- To evaluate the activities of institutions involved in Islamic and traditional economics, particularly banks, insurance companies, NGOs, government agencies, investment houses etc, identify their success and failures and suggest appropriate measures.
- To provide consultancy services on management, human resource development, research and development, institution building etc in the filed of Islamic economics, banking, insurance and finance to help solve specific problems.
- To hold meeting, seminars and symposia on various subjects of Islamic Economics.
- To maintain liaison with similar agencies home and abroad and promote co-operation and good relationship with other research organizations of the world working for the achievement of similar objectives.
