A woman was killed when an airport-bound microbus in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj lost control and fell into a ditch on the side of the road. At least eight others were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred at around 12 noon on Tuesday in the Kusumpur Boubazar area of Ichhapura Union of the upazila.
According to local sources, a white microbus carrying 11 passengers from Tongibari upazila left for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. They were going to the airport to bid farewell to a relative working abroad. On the way, when they reached Kusumpur Boubazar area, the driver lost control and the microbus fell into a ditch on the side of the road.
The microbus passenger, Momtaz Begum, 35, was seriously injured in the accident. Locals rescued her and took her to Ichhapura Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead. She is a resident of Bajrojogini village in Tongibari upazila.
Eight others were injured in the incident. They are being treated at the Ichhapura Health Complex.
Sirajdikhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Alauddin said that after receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took necessary measures. Traffic movement on the road is normal even after the accident.
