Housewife gang-raped after abduction in Mymensingh

A housewife was allegedly gang-raped by a group of seven to eight masked miscreants after being abducted from her home at Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Kurchai village of the upazila.

Quoting locals and police, Pagla Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Aminul Islam, said the victim, along with her husband and their three-year-old child, had been residing at her mother’s house in the village.

According to sources, a gang of seven to eight masked attackers broke into the house around 1:00AM. The miscreants physically assaulted the victim's husband and tied him up before forcefully abducting the woman.

They took her to an abandoned house about 200 meters away, where they took turns violating her, the OC added.

The victim was later rescued by family members. Following the incident, the victim’s mother filed a formal case with Pagla Police Station.

Police have sent the woman to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) for a medical examination. 

"We are thoroughly investigating the matter, and legal procedures are currently underway," concluded OC Aminul Islam.
