Popular small-screen actress Afsan Ara Bindu is set to make a much-anticipated acting comeback after a long hiatus. After several years away from the spotlight, she will return to the screen with the upcoming web series “Headline.”
The teaser for Saleh Sobhan Auneem’s upcoming series was released on Monday afternoon, offering a 1-minute 15-second glimpse into the narrative. The brief preview hints at a world driven by relentless journalism, where a reporter’s pursuit of the truth unfolds amid layers of conspiracy, while also reflecting the personal struggles within a journalist’s life.
At the heart of the story are a senior journalist and a young reporter, portrayed by Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Yash Rohan respectively.
Meanwhile, Bindu appears as Irin, a character introduced as a “problem solver,” adding another intriguing layer to the unfolding drama.
One of the major attractions of the series is Bindu’s much-anticipated return to acting. The cast also includes Sarika Subrin, Farhana Hamid, Ornil Birol, and Raii Rajonna, among others.
Sharing his thoughts on the project, director Auneem said, “Amidst all the unrest, we wanted to create something that offers a sense of relief. We have tried to tell a story similar to those we grew up watching and still hold close to our hearts. At its core, ‘Headline’ is a family drama hidden behind the facade of journalism and investigation.”
Echoing the sentiment, hoichoi Bangladesh's Country Director Sakib R Khan said, “Our constant endeavour is to bring content to our audience that provides food for thought. ‘Headline’ is that kind of series. I’m confident that Auneem’s directorial finesse and the exceptional screenplay will keep viewers captivated throughout.”
It remains to be seen whether Bindu can reclaim audience admiration after her long break from acting. The answer will become clear when “Headline” premieres on 25 June on Hoichoi.
