Bangladesh Youth Shine at World Bank Summit
Two young Bangladeshi representatives, Tisha Khandakar and Md. Toufiq Elahi, are showcasing Bangladesh’s innovation potential on the global stage at the 13th World Bank Group Youth Summit 2026 in Washington, D.C.
The two-day summit, being held at the headquarters of the World Bank Group, has brought together policymakers, investors, innovators, and youth leaders from around the world to discuss the future of jobs and the digital economy.
The event was inaugurated by Ajay Banga, who highlighted quality job creation as a top priority for reducing poverty and ensuring inclusive growth. Later, Makhtar Diop emphasized the importance of private-sector investment in emerging economies.
One of the key attractions of the first day was a panel discussion titled “Beyond the Pitch Deck: Both Sides of the Funding Table.” During the session, Nicole Mao highlighted Bangladesh’s growing entrepreneurial potential. She noted that the country is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for impact investment due to its rapid adoption of technology and scalable innovation ecosystem.
On the second day of the summit, the two Bangladeshi delegates are scheduled to present their AI-driven solutions at the Innovation Lab.
Tisha Khandakar will present AgriCredit in the Youth Entrepreneurship category. The solution aims to reduce financing barriers for young entrepreneurs in developing countries through artificial intelligence-enabled support systems.
Meanwhile, Md. Toufiq Elahi will present a strategic roadmap titled From Skills to Jobs: TVET Transitions under the Education and Skills category. The proposal focuses on bridging the gap between education and workforce demands to improve youth employment outcomes.
As emerging economies are expected to see millions of young people enter the labor market over the next decade, Bangladesh’s participation in this international forum highlights the growing capabilities of its young generation in innovation, skills development, and global engagement.
Launched in 2013, the World Bank Group Youth Summit is one of the leading international platforms for young people aged 18 to 35. This year’s theme, “FutureWorks: Designing Jobs for the Digital Age,” focuses on employment, artificial intelligence, digital inclusion, and green innovation.
