The registration process for the 'Bangladesh Math and Science Olympiad (BdMSO) 2026', the country’s largest talent hunt for primary school students, has officially begun. Jointly organized by the Society for the Popularization of Science, Bangladesh (SPSB) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), this Olympiad will select the Bangladesh National Team for the prestigious 23rd International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO 2026), to be held in West Java, Indonesia, from October 2 to 7, 2026.

To participate, students must be under 13 years of age (born after October 1, 2013) and studying in Class 6 or below. However, English medium students promoted to Class 7 in July/August 2026 are ineligible. The competition features two categories: the Olympiad Category (up to Class 6) and the Quiz Category (Class 3 or below).

The national round will take place this July across four regions: Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Rangpur. The exam will be held in English with a 120-minute time limit. Winners will join a 3-day National Residential Camp, followed by a final test to select the 12-member national team (6 for Math and 6 for Science). Last year, at the 22nd IMSO in Malaysia, the Bangladeshi team achieved 100% success, with all 12 participants winning medals (2 silver and 10 bronze). Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN and SPSB, stated, "Our goal is not rote learning, but to spread the joy of math and science among young minds and enhance their logical thinking." Interested students can register throughout June 2026 at bdmso.org.
