PSTU VC Holds Consultative Meetings with Faculty Members

Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan, held a series of important consultation meetings with faculty members from three different faculties of the university.

On Monday, he met separately with teachers from the Faculty of Business Administration, the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and the Faculty of Fisheries, where he listened to their views on various academic and administrative issues concerning the respective faculties.

At the beginning of each meeting, faculty members extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor with floral greetings and presented commemorative mementos on behalf of their faculties.

Addressing the gatherings as the chief guest, Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan emphasized the central role of teachers in the development of a university.

“The true driving force of a university is its teaching community. Through quality education, advanced research, and innovative initiatives, we must elevate this university to new heights both nationally and internationally. Achieving this goal requires the collective efforts of teachers and all stakeholders,” he said.

Referring to the existing shortages of faculty members, officers, and staff across various schools, the Vice-Chancellor assured participants that the university administration is actively working to address the manpower crisis.

He stated that effective and visible measures would be undertaken soon to fill the staffing gaps and strengthen academic and administrative operations.

The meeting of the Faculty of Business Administration was chaired by Dean Professor Dr. Md. Hasan Uddin and moderated by Associate Professor Mohammad Sabbir Hossain.

Among those who spoke were former Dean Professor Dr. Badiuzzaman, Professor Abul Bashar Khan, Professor Dr. Sujahangir Kabir Sarkar, Dean of the Faculty of Oceanography Dr. ABM Saiful Islam, Chairman of the Department of Management Studies Professor Dr. Mohammad Mujahidul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Marketing Professor Dr. Imranul Islam, Professor Dr. Anup Kumar Mondal of the Department of Economics and Sociology, and Associate Professor Md. Momin Uddin.

The consultation meeting of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering was chaired by Dean Professor Dr. Khokon Hossain.

Faculty members who shared their views included former Dean Professor Mohammad Jamal Hossain, Professor Dr. Md. Bellal Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Professor Dr. Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the CCE Department Professor Golam Md. Muradul Bashir, Professor Dr. Md. Shamsuzzaman, Professor Md. Atikur Rahman of the CIT Department, and Professor Dr. Oli Roy Chowdhury.

The meeting of the Faculty of Fisheries was presided over by Dean Professor Dr. Md. Sazedul Haque.

Speakers included former Dean Professor Dr. Md. Lokman Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Land Administration Professor Mohammad Jamal Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Fisheries Technology Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Professor Dr. Kaniz Roufsana Sumi, Professor Dr. Md. Ariful Alam, Professor Dr. Md. Rajib Sarkar, and Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam.

In addition to faculty members, Deputy Director of the Public Relations and Publications Division Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Sabuj and the Vice-Chancellor’s Personal Secretary Md. Arifur Rahman Noman were also present at the meetings.
